Window Film Generations
Window film technology falls into four generations. Most films on the market are first to third generation — only Iceberg Window Films uses the fourth.
From dyed film to nano carbon
The history of window film can be divided into four generations. Iceberg Window Films uses the fourth, with Night Vision Technology for the best clarity without disturbing your view at night.
-
First generation
Dyed film: the first technology simply gave the film a colour.
Weakness: The colour fades quickly and heat rejection is very low.
Performance: TSER max 20% | IR max 10% -
Second generation
Metallised film: uses metal elements to reflect heat.
Weakness: The metal makes the view less clear and it corrodes easily.
Performance: TSER max 40% | IR max 35% -
Third generation
Sputtered film: a sputtering process puts a heat-rejecting layer on the film.
Weakness: It rejects heat well, but a rainbow effect and metal particles are visible.
Performance: TSER max 75% | IR max 99%
Fourth generation
100% nano carbon — Iceberg Window Films
This technology uses 100% carbon as its raw material, processed with nano technology, producing the clearest window film available today.
- No metal particles, no rainbow effect
- Clear view from inside, day and night
- Does not corrode, colour does not fade
- Rejects up to 99% of infrared and UV
